Haikus captivate with their succinct elegance, distilling vast emotions and observations into a mere seventeen syllables. This traditional Japanese form of poetry, structured in a 5-7-5 syllable pattern, challenges writers to express complex ideas and imagery within strict constraints, fostering creativity and precision. The beauty of a haiku lies in its ability to convey the essence of a moment, blending the natural with the philosophical. Through its brevity, a haiku invites readers to pause, reflect, and find depth in simplicity. This unique blend of simplicity, structure, and depth makes haikus a fascinating and enduring form of literary expression.

Objective

The objective of the game is to find the 4 words in the red boxes and attain the highest possible score of 100%. The Haiku is your clue to what the words are. Some of the words may or may not be present in the haiku itself.

Playing

To enter a letter, tap a letter on the keyboard then tap Haiklu!.(if this does not work, refresh the page). Your entries are shown in the green box above the keyboard. If the letter is there it will be revealed in the puzzle. If it is not there it will be displayed in the red box below the keyboard. This helps you keep track of the letters you used.

To enter a word, enter a complete word then tap Haiklu!. Check the contents of the entry box to ensure you typed correctly. Tap the back arrow key to delete a letter in your entry.

When you are sure tap Haiklu! to see if word is in the puzzle. If correct, the word is revealed. Word segments are not accepted as correct .

You can enter a maximum of 10 letters to be evaluated. After that, you are messaged that only words are subsequently evaluated and individual letters that are entered are ignored.

Scoring

Score is calculated as follows:

10 points per correct word entered completely plus percent ratio of correct letter entered to total letters available minus two points per letter revealed by yielding the game minus 10 points if the clue was used

Only entering a correct complete word in the entry box gains you 10 points. Say you uncovered 8 letters of a 9-letter word. It is better for you to enter a full word rather than the last missing letter. Entering the last missing letter alone will complete the word but you will not gain the 10 points. Only entering the entire word will gain you points.

End Game

The game ends when all 4 words are displayed- either by you completing them or yielding
